neoCAD is a fast, native schematic, board and library editor. It opens your existing EAGLE files, speaks the commands you already know, and adds the things we always wished EAGLE did.

Features
Everything on one canvas, one set of rules.
One editor that changes with the file you open, not a pile of separate tools. The same grid, units, snapping, selection and shortcuts everywhere.
Native and quick
Written in Rust with an immediate-mode GUI. Boards open fast and pan and zoom stay smooth,.
Reads EAGLE files
Open .brd, .sch and .lbr straight from EAGLE and save them back. Your libraries, your designs, no conversion step.
Commands you remember
A command line with the verbs EAGLE users type without thinking, plus script (.scr) support.
Fluid track follow
Move or turn a part and its tracks stay attached and keep their shape, instead of leaving a pile of airwires to repair.
Click-carry MOVE
Click a part, it follows the cursor, right-click to turn it in steps you choose, click to place. Exactly how EAGLE hands feel it should work.
PINSWAP
Swap two airwires to different pads of the same device, with a clear confirmation if it would cross parts.
MARK & measure
Drop as many marks as you like with dimension lines, plus a live relative X/Y readout next to the snapped coordinates.
Board outlines (.bdo)
Keep your standard outlines, crop marks and L-marks as reusable starting points. New board? Pick an outline and go.
Fiducials & registration
Place fiducials and registration marks as proper footprints, tidy for assembly and panel work.
Output & ordering
Gerber and drill viewing and output, BOM and placement files, and a path to JLCPCB ordering built right in.
Work-time & autosave
Time spent per file is tracked inside the file, and recovery copies are written so a crash costs seconds, not hours.
mm, mil or inch. Always shown
Coordinates in your grid unit first, the other in brackets, and a bright snapped readout so you always know where the next click lands.
Editors
Schematic. Board. Library. And the rest of your day.
Open anything in a tab. A drawing, a spreadsheet and a board sit side by side.
Board editor
Place, route, rip up and tidy with layers, ratsnest, polygons and a design that keeps its connections when you push parts around.
Tracks stay connected when parts move, turn or flip
Origins you can see on every part, always in a contrasting colour
Hatch, arrays, text, holes, vias, the full toolbox
Smart zoom that includes crop marks and outline

Schematic editor
Sheets, nets and buses that stay in step with the board, using the same grid and key bindings as everywhere else.
Open EAGLE schematics and keep working
Nets and parts shared with the board
Same commands as the board editor
Schematic editorassets/screen-schematic.png
Library editor
Footprints, symbols and devices with pads, smds, holes, text and outline tools, all snapping to the same grid.
Edit packages in place and update boards that use them
Crop and L marks for outline packages, one click on, one click off
Replace footprints on the board from the library

Drawing editor
Open DXF and SVG drawings, edit with LINE, PLINE, CIRCLE, ARC, TRIM, EXTEND, OFFSET and friends, with Enter to repeat and typed coordinates like @10<45.
Tables & text
CSV, BOM and plain-text files open as tabs, with find, replace and cell editing, handy for BOMs next to the board.
Wiring editor
Sketch harnesses and connection diagrams with the same tools and the same file handling.
Compatibility
Bring your whole archive.
neoCAD reads and writes the formats you already have and is careful with them. Original files get a backup the first time you save over them.
I'd been a faithful and loyal EAGLE user for near 35 years. My first purchase was v1.xx. Whilst I can not say I purchased every upgrade, I probably purchased every other. I always wanted export to a .zip package, and unfortunately I missed out. When EAGLE was sold, I just knew it was the end.

Named after my beloved Neo
Neo lived with our family for just short of twenty-one years.
And through every board, every prototype and every late night, he was more often than not by my side. Often lying across my MacBook Pro keyboard, of course. Neo didn't seem to care about my deadlines or my constant frustrations with what I saw as limitations of EAGLE. He just wanted a warm bum and to be near his dad.
neoCAD tries to be the same kind of constant: unfussy, quick on its feet, and always there when you sit down to work.
It also means new – the EDA tool we kept waiting for someone to build after EAGLE was euthanised.
Roadmap
Built in the open, tested on real boards.
neoCAD is developed by a long-time EAGLE user and tested on real boards. New builds arrive often.
